Training Topic: Introduction to Bal-a-Vis-X for Subs
Date: Friday, March 15 
Time: 8:00 - Noon 
Location: Baker SD 5J Offices - North Conference Room

Description: Participants will receive an introduction to the Bal-a-Vis-X program model, inclucing background information, foundational principals/philosophy of the program, practice basic Bal-a-Vis-X patterns and receive information on how to use visual schedules, alternative communication systems and the basics of 1:1 support in the classroom setting
 
Goal: Participants in this training will become familiar enough with the BAVX program so that if they are subbing in a building where trained staff are doing BAVX with a student or group, they would be able to join in or at least understand the purpose. 
 
Additionally, participants will gain enough information to be able to provide accurate information if asked about the program by others in the community.

Short-term Employment
Baker School District offers a variety of short-term employment opportunities for local citizens who meet the qualifications for positions. All substitute positions require finger printing and background checks.
Classified positions: Bus driver, Custodian/Maintenance, Food Service, Interpreter/Translator, Paraprofessional, Secretary, Library. Specialized training is required for bus, interpreter/translator and food service positions.
Certified positions: Classroom and PE, Music teachers (Gr. Kg - 6); Secondary teachers (Gr. 7-12); Specialist positions
Mid Year Sub Training Day - Tuesday, Jan. 22

Certified Substitutes (Teacher positions)

Substitutes for licensed employees must either have a current valid teaching license through the Oregon Teachers Standards and Practices Commission (TSPC) or a Bachelor’s Degree and obtain a Restricted Substitute License from TSPC by following the procedure located here:http://tspc.oregon.gov/licensure/licensure.asp. A letter of support from the District is needed to complete the application procedure. Please contact Cathy Martin at the District Office at 541-524-2260 Ext. 1004 regarding that letter, or email her at Cathy.Martin@bakersd.org.

Salary: $202.68 per day

 

Non-Licensed Substitutes (Paraprofessionals, Para-Librarians, Secretaries, Cooks, and Custodians)

Substitute Hourly Rates:

Custodian I $11.52 per hour

Custodian II $13.16 per hour

Cook I $10.56 per hour

Cook II $11.97 per hour

Paraprofessionals $12.09 per hour
