Centennial Celebration at Eastern Oregon Museum and Haines Elementary School

The community is invited to join Haines staff and PTCO to celebrate the one-hundredth anniversary of their school. Centennial Celebration festivities are scheduled for Thursday, May 30, 2019. The Eastern Oregon Museum (610 Third Street in Haines), formerly the Haines School gymnasium, will be open to visitors and alumni from 4:00-6:30 pm. The public is invited to bring photos and yearbooks for a time of reminiscing with fellow alum and friends.
The Centennial Celebration ceremony, held on the south lawn of Haines Elementary, is scheduled to begin at 6:30pm. Visitors are encouraged to bring lawn chairs as they gather to enjoy a Haines Elementary student and Community Orchestra musical salute to the centennial. Following the performance, former Haines principal and fellow alum Mr. Anthony Johnson will deliver an informational presentation about education through the decades at Haines Elementary. Culminating the evening will be refreshments and tours of the 100-year-old building.
“We are excited to be able to host this event for the public,” said Haines Principal Katy Collier. “Many people have already contributed memorabilia and there will be many more stories and memories to share.” Find us on Facebook at Haines Centennial Celebration, or check our events section on our school Facebook page at Haines Elementary for more information.
